Scrap Metal 3 — Free Drive with Track Building
In Scrap Metal 3, there are no races, no rivals, and no leaderboard. You pick one of four cars and decide for yourself what to do on the big map. It usually starts on a flat area, where it’s easy to speed up and get a feel for how the car handles corners. The same free-drive idea was in Scrap Metal 2, but the third game adds much rougher terrain.
Inventory Full of Ramps Mid-Drive
Press I to open the inventory. With the mouse, you choose a ramp, bridge, or another obstacle and place it on the map without leaving the game. The object appears instantly, you can drive around it, test it, and move it right away. That makes it easy to build your own obstacle course in just a few minutes.
Mountains Where the Terrain Is the Real Enemy
The second part of the map is the mountains. There are no roads there, and the main obstacle is the rough ground, not an opponent. The car gets crumpled and loses parts when you crash. R fixes it on the spot, Enter resets it after a rollover, so a bad jump won’t send you back to the start. Eight camera angles on keys 1–8 and slow motion on T help you break down tricky moments. The later game in the series, Scrap Metal 6, works the same way.
One important limitation: the game was made in Unity and only runs on PC. It’s not available on phones or tablets.
