Instead of the platform, you just start the ball from anywhere in the bottom of the screen. Each number on the block shows how many times it needs to be hit so that it breaks. Between the blocks you will find coins. Try to knock them down to get additional balls, because the more shells you have, the easier it is to cope with the onslaught.
